One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin.
Originally from Scotland, I spent my early twenties working on board ships as a Radio Operator for 7 years before changing career to an Environmental Officer. I continued to stay on board ships for a further 8 years before retiring to start a family.
Over the last 20 years, I've taught myself HTML and CSS and more recently JavaScript. I'm an expert on the Teachable platform even helping to develop Teachable's own Academy site along with dozens of other highly successful Teachable schools.
My main goal is to empower school owners to embrace their inner geek and get their hands dirty by showing and teaching them some actionable code to make their schools look awesome.
Purple Hippo was named by my two Sons Aethyn and Joshua. Their first words were 'Purple' and 'Hippo' respectively and what better way to eulogize their first words than naming my Web Development Studio with them.
The Teachable Platform has given me the freedom to spend more time with my kids and to allow me to develop these great themes so everyone can benefit from amazing designs for their schools.
